Woman With Sunglasses Sketch

This representation of a woman wearing a hair scarf and sunglasses was drawn with charcoal pencils and a white charcoal pencil on grey paper. The drawing is black and white. There’s texture in the pencil lines and on the paper. This draws your attention to the details. The white highlights make the composition highly contrasted. This sketch wasn’t for a school project and was something I had felt like drawing in my spare time. Although, I had entered it in the Crooked Tree Arts Center Annual Youth Art Exhibit 2023.

This acrylic painting on canvas was created for the NMC personal piece assignment. The purpose of the project was to compose a personal artwork and enter it in the juried NMC art show. The first step in this piece was painting an undercoat of red. This technique makes the colors painted on top vibrant and leaves no canvas peeking through the finished work. This painting is full of loose brush strokes to make the texture soft and makes the painting dreamy. The focal point in the composition is the girl standing in the meadow. Her hair is blond and shining in the sun while her white dress flows in the breeze. Her dress is white but has light tones of color in her surroundings
